SMOKE NUISANCE
REMEDIAL MEASURES WHAT IS PROPOSED Concerning the alleged smoke nuisance in King Street, the Mayor, Mr John Routly, reported as follows at Wednesday’s meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council: — “I have to report having visited I’ 1 blacksmith’s shop in King street, where I met the proprietor and inspected the building. I found the corrugated iron roof in tight order, with the exception of one sheet on the side of the building near the fish shop. A quantity of new iron has recently been placed on the roof. The proprietor informed me that he intends having three feet added to the brick work of each chimney and also to continue this addition with iron pipes above the brick work.” The report was received. The Health Inspector, Mr R. J. McGee, asked for some indication as to what the council deemed necessary in connection with the smoke nuisance. —lt was decided to give him a copy of the Mayor’s report.
