THE TUAKAU BRANCH. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The annual un-eling nf the Tuakan 1 U-turned Soldiers' Association loot; place mi Monday evening. There was u large attendance, including many visitors from surrounding brandies. The annual report presen l ed by the president, Mr L. G. Logan, showed Ihe assoeiation to lie in a satisfactory P"'UI imi.
The following officers wen- el' -ted fur the year: Brandi chairman, Mr L. Logan: secretary. Mr F. Baguati; committee, the president and secretary and Messrs J. E. Geraghty, W. IJowe, W. Barnaby. H. W. Coles, E. V. Tout, R. Davies, 11. C. Foster and A. B. Fordyce.
Mr S. R. Rice of Papakura. gave an ini eras ling address on Hie work ol the Franklin association, making special reference, to the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Act. Air Rice said lie was very disappointed in so far as Ihe Act had been "washed out” on March hi and that no more would probably Ire heard of it. “Returned soldiers were now' on the same footing as civilians.” concluded the speaker. At the conclusion of business the members enjoyed a social hour. A number of toasts were honoured and
items presented. The programme included music played try Mr Alidgley. songs by Messrs A. If. Fryer-Raisher. Walter Bright. Rocklitfe. and T. G. Seaton (Papakura). The musical saw played by Mr W. Sanderson was very popular. Opportunity was taken lo farewell Messrs G. Asher, VY. Barnaby and W. Rowe who are going to Sydney for the Anzae Day parade. Another member. Air F. Rvder. was absent.
