OBITUARY.

MRS E. WHITAKER. FORMER PAPAKURA RESIDENT. The many friends of Mr and Mrs J. Whitaker who for many years were in business in Papalcura, first on the Gheat South Road, then later in Broadway, will regret to learn that Mrs E. , Whitaker passed away very suddenly at Erun (King Country) last week. The deceased was in her usual health early in the morning and was occupied in her work in her husband’s store, ' but suddenly collapsed and passed away in a few minutes. Mrs Whitaker was born in Yorkshire, England, and was married to Mr John Whitaker a little aver 30 years ago, at Bolton. Lancashire. The family came out to Now Zealand about 20 years ago and first resided in Auckland, and then settled in Papakura where they started a confectionery business, in which Mrs Whitaker was very popular. Mrs Whitaker was a relative of the late Mr Gerrard. of “Oak Lodge,” Papakura. For several years Mrs Whitaker was a very valuable and loyal member of the Papakura Methodist church choir and was beloved by all who came in contact with her. Afler leaving Papakura Miami Mrs Whitaker entered business in Tauranga and other districts, and Anally settled in Erun three years ago.
