TE KOHANGA NOTES.
A dance arranged by the Te Kohanga Hockey Club took place last week. There was not a very lage attendance owing to the inclement weather, but all present spent a most enjoyable evening. The floor was in perfect order and dancing was a pleasure. Music was supplied by Pangu Clark's orchestra and extras by Mrs S. Parry and Miss Marshall (Opuatia). The people of the district are eagerly looking forward to August 11. On that-date a concert arranged by Princess, Te P'uea and the local school authorities, in aid of school literature, will take place. The school children are already being instructed in part singing and folk dancing. The hockey matches which were interrupted by Country Week were resumed on Saturday. The Tuakau team travelled to Te Kohanga where they defeated the local girls by three goals'to one. In spite of the fact that Kohanga were without the ser"•vfoßßrbf Charlotte Peters and Rita Phillips, they managed to put up a good fight. Only the sureness of Tuakau's goalie prevented more goals being scored For Tuakau Miss A. Cathcart scored two goals and Miss G. Cathcart one. For Kohanga Miss Kirunui Kukutai (who shot the goal), Mavis Parry, Paki Clark and Martha Wilson played willing games. Miss R. Lawson, the Kohanga goalie, was suffering from a severe cold and was not up to her usual form.
