A SOCIAL EVENING. On Saturday night the home of Mr D. K. Maloney was a scene of brightness and gaiety. Overy 30 residents/ and friends had attended to mark the inauguration of a series of weekly social evenings. The visitors were welcomed by the hostesses, Miss Maloney and Mrs Whitehead, and, on the production of cards, the party resolved itself into five hundred enthusiasts, bridge players and ping pong exponents. A full-sized table, specially constructed for these social gatherings, made the ping pong particularly interesting.
During the evening a dainty and tasty supper was served by the hostesses. Towards the close, the younger generation enjoyed a few dances, after which a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the organisers for an exceedingly pleasant and enjoyable evening. Needless to say, one and all are keenly looking forward to the next gathering.
