LOWER WAIKATO EXECUTIVE.

ORDINARY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the executive of the Lower Waikato branch of the Farmers’ Union was held in the A. and P. office, Pukekohe, when there was a good attendance of delegates, the president, Mr W. H. Waterhouse, presiding. It was reported that the organiser’s horse had not been sold, and the disposal of same was left in the hands of Mr M. Cronin. The action of the sub-committee in appointing Mr A. W. Bell as secretary in place of Mr A. J. Hall (resigned) was confirmed.

Letters were received from Mr J. B. McKinney and the secretary of the Bcmbay branch, stating that they were withdrawing from the union, as a protest against the unconstitutional way of conducting business. The secretary was instructed to endeavour to arrange with Mr McKinney and the Bombay branch to meet a deputation from the executive with a view to reconciling matters. The president offered to submit his position and ruling in the matter to any person conversant with the conduct of public meetings. Messrs W. H. Waterhouse, .1. 0. Crouch, M. Cronin and A. W. Bell were appointed as a deputation. In the matter of the shipping strike the president pointed out how serious tiie matter would he if tiro strike was prolonged. It was resolved that a letter be sent to the Prime Minister stating that this union would back him in any action taken to get produce shipped away, and that help would be forthcoming if men were needed.
