COMMUNISTS ACCUSED OF WORLD AGGRESSION CONSPIRACY
NANKING, June 24. Mr Chen Li Fu. a close associate of Marshal Chiang Kai-shek and Minister of' Organisations, interviewed today, said the Chinese Communist movement was part of a world conspiracy of organised l aggression directed by a foreign Power which sought to impose Bed totalitarian dictatorship upon all free peoples. Chen estimated that 80 per cent, of the Chinese people were farmers who were essentially conservative and opposed.to Communist doctrines, but the Communist Party gained many temporary adherents because of poverty and war’s aftermath of devastation and misery. The Communists had taken full advantage of the popular unrest thereby engendered. That the Chinese Communists were directed from abroad was proved by the fact that they always followed the Communist Party line, and when that changed the Chinese Communists, like those in the United States, readily changed with it. The Chinese Communists maintained contact with and received support from Communist groups in the United States, Japan, and other countries. He declared that Communist infiltration into the ranks of world journalism enabled the Communists generally to get a good Press, and added that Leftist writers in the United States offered the greatest assistance to the Chinese Reds. Chen asserted that' the Communist claims that they effected widespread rfeorms in the regions they conquered were not borne but by the facts. He said the Chinese Communists made a special effort to'infiltrate into schools, cultural organisations, the Press, and radio. v. ■ Emphasising that Communist land reforms were merelv propaganda, Chen explained that the Communists divided the land into equal portions regardless of fertility or industry, and the experience of persons receiving the plots, whereas the traditional family system divided the land among a man’s sons when the owner died.
