HUNGER STRIKE BY PRISONER WHO LANDED FROM U-BOAT
<Rec. 10 a.m.) JOHANNESBURG, June 25. Robey ' Leibrandt, former South African light heavy-weight boxing champion, began the thirteenth day of a hunger strike in Pretoria prison, where he is serving a life sentence for treason. Leibrandt started his hunger strike when the authorities refused to transfer him to a new prison for first offenders. He was sentenced in 1944 after landing on the west coast of Africa from a U-boat on Hitler’s orders.
