(Rec. 11.45 a.m.) ■ MELBOURNE, June 25. (Red-headed Scottish-born Kekt Tantri (Sourabaya Sue), who broadcast until recently over the Indonesian independence radio, stepped ashore from the steamer Marella without a passport or a landing license. The Minister of Information, Mr Calwell, said last week that she would hot be permitted to land without these documents. The local immigration officials said ho report had been received from Canberra, and in the meantime no action would be taken. She blamed politics for her failure to-obtain-a passport. She wanted to broadcast in Australia and tell the truth about Indonesia. For three years she was a prisoner of the Japanese, who had tortured her in the belief that she was an American spy. During the; Japanese occupation she saved the lives of a number of Australians. Thirteen years ago she married an American subject, and had lived in Java ever since.
