LIBEL CASE AGAINST CZECH JOURNALIST DISMISSED

(Rec. 9 a.m.)_ PRAGUE, J une 24. . The court dismissed proceedings initiated by the public prosecutor against a Czech journalist and his editor alleging dibel. The journalist had written an article charging the “ Guard of National Security ” (a Communistdominated special police) with a number of outrages. Tlie article cailsed an outcry from the Communists, who requested the prosecutor to begin proceedings. Efforts at reconciliation were made when it became obvious that the journalist had his evidence well prepared, but he and his editor refused to conciliate, and offered to prove their case. The public prosecutor ashed the court to withdraw the case when it heard seven witnesses who were Called by the journalist.
