THE WOOL SALES
ANIMATED MARKET AT WELLINGTON PRICES STEADY (P A.) WELLINGTON, January 6. The following official report on the Wellington wool sale has been issued by the Wellington Woolbrokers’ Association in conjunction with the New Zealand Wool buyers’ Assciation and the New Zealand Wool Disposal Commission : “ The third Wellington sale was held to-day, when catalogues totalling 30,000 bales were submitted to auction. These comprised 29,680 bales of greasy, 335 of slipe, 75 of scoured, and 210 of stock wools. The offering consisted of wools from Wairarapa, Manawatu, Itangitikei, Marlborough, and Nelson districts. The. clips from Wairarapa opened up fairly bright, while those from Manawatu and Itangitikei were showing the effects of the_ climatic conditions experienced during the late winter. There was a good attendance of buyers and competition was keen, especially from Continental operators, with good support from Bradford and local mills bidding keenly for wools suitable for their requirements. A feature of the sale was the keen competition and the prices realised for wellgrown medium to coarse cross-bred wools. Bellies, pieces, and necks met with keen competition, but with. re-, stricted limits. Lambs met with exceptionally keen competition throughout. ■' RANGE OF PRICES.
