CABINET TAKES LEGAL ADVICE
AN INQUIRY ORDERED (Rec. 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 9. The Cabinet considered a report based oil legal advice which the Ministry of Works obtained on the situation arising out of the organised invasion of property in Kensington, «ays ‘ The Times ’ parliamentary correspondent. Ministers had to face the possible consequences of extension of the invasion to a point where no empty, house might be safe. The Government will probably issue a statement after further examination of the legal position. The ‘ Daily Express ’ says Cabinet has already ordered inquiries into—first, the Army’s action in sending urns of tea to the squatters; secondly, the attitude of the police who permitted occupation of the premises, It is not suggested that the police acted wrongly, but they will get specific orders about future events.
