CHRISTIANITY THE ROAD TO PEACE NEW YORK, September 9. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Fisher, making nis first public speech in the United States at Philadelphia, said Christianity was the only road to world brotherhood and lasting peace. All wars were due to clan or group differences, which became worse when linked with ideologies. The democracies must convince Russia that they did not want to impede her living in accordance with her own ideology, but neither did" they want another ideology imposed where it was not welcome. "They had to persuade Russia to play the game in; accordance with democratic principles. The democracies knew a great deal about brotherhood, but they had not learned the lesson completely, and it would ill befit them to say that they had.
