LEAGUE TEAM'S TOUR
CLASH WITH KIWI MATCH (P.A.) CHRISTCHUBCH, July 20. The Show Grounds will be the venue of the opening match of the English Rugby League team's tour.against the South Island next Saturday. The Canterbury Rugby League had originally intended to play the game at the Addington trotting track, but at a meeting this week the Rugby Union decided to vacate the show ground on that day and the league subsequently made arrangements to take over with the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. _ , Rugby League officials in the city had had no word this morning of the meeting proposed between the president of the New Zealand Rugby Union (Mr Dean) and the president of the New Zealand Rugby League (Mr Redwood), who were to discuss a change in the date for the Kiwi match in Christchurch, scheduled also'for next Saturday. In the event of the Kiwi match being on, it was suggested that the League match should start at 11 o'clock This proposal will be discussed with the English managers, who will arrive by air at Auckland to-mor-row. As some of the Englishmen are arriving at Christchurch on Thursday and the remainder on'Saturday morning, it is felt that they might not wish to play after such a short time ashore from the interisland steamer.
