NEW FABRICS
REVOLUTION IN CLOTHING PREDICTED SUMMER-LOOKING MATERIAL FOR WINTER USE LONDON, April 15. Outstripping many of the old-style fabrics, which shrink almost to vanishing point after repeated washings, a new fabric has been evolved! by textile scientists which completely disappears in soap and water, says tie Daily Mail.' The new fabric is interwoven in the wool and then purposely washed out to produce the finest and lightest woollen material that could possibly be manufactured. Scientists at the International Symposium of Protein Fabrics conference to be held in Leeds next month will discuss the new products and also the manufacture of textiles with the appearance of wool and cotton from such things as peanut fibres, seaweed, and milk. The Society of Dyers and Colourists, one of the organisers of the conference, found that by blending the newlydiscovered fibres with wool and cotton they can produce in one process a far widter range of colours in one piece, of material. Design and fashion experts predict a revolution in clothing with these new fabrics, which give warmth for winter with material that looks like summer.
