NIGHT PROWLER
NURSE ATTACKED IN SLEEP (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 16. The occupants of the Nurses' Home, adjacent to Auckland Hospital, have been disturbed on several occasions recently by a night iprowler, the matter reaching a climax last night, when a nurse sleeping in a first-floor bedroom was attacked and left in a dazed condition. Earlier in the evening a . man was seen in the nursing home grounds by a nurse, but could not be found when a search was made later. Two nurses also reported seeing someone in the grounds, but although the intruder was followed, he again managed to escape. This prowler apparently returned. . The superintendent of the staff, hearing a noise from one of the nurse's bedrooms later in the night, found the occupant in a dazed condition from a blow on the head, and with blood coming from the nose. She could give no information as to what had happened, having been asleep. No trace was found of her assailant, who had apparently climbed to the first-floor balcony and leaned in through the window to attack the sleeping unrse. She was not injured seriously.
