NO MATCHES SATURDAY MORNINGS THREE SELECTORS APPOINTED The question of whether matches should be played on Saturday mornings during the coming season was discussed at last night's meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union, and the decision was against such a proposal. The president (Mr A. H. Cameron) was m the chair. SELECTION COMMITTEE. It was decided to elect a Selection Committee of three, and Messrs B Collie, V. G- Cavanagh, jun., and W. Duncan were the successful candidates. Mr Collie was also nominated as a member of the New Zealand Selection Committee. APPOINTMENT BOARD. Messrs S. Inglis (convener; and D. Palmer, as representatives of tho Rugby Union, and Messrs W. Glengarry, W. Blagdon, and L. Macassey, representing the Referees' Association, were elected members of the Appointment Board. MATCHES ARRANGED It was reported that two senior club matches would be played in Dunedin on Easter Saturday—namely, Alhambra v. Merivale, and Pirates v. Christchurch.—lt was decided that both matches be played at Carisbrook, the former starting at 1.30 and the latter at 3 o'clock. Permission to play the following matches was also granted:—West Taieri, at Middlemarch, on April 27; Union Club, East v. Present, at North Ground, on Easter Saturday; Green Island v. Brighton, at Middle Park, on April 27; Zuigari-llichmond v. Matakanui, at Omakau, on Easter Saturday; and Training College v. Port Chalmers, at Port Cliajmers, on April 27. POSITION SERIOUS. The Secretary reported the position regarding football linings was serious, as no supplies had yet come to hand, nor had the shops handling them received any information as to when they would be available. It was decided to write the New Zealand Union asking its assistance in the matter of obtaining the linings and also jerseys. NEW CLUB. After some discussion it wa6 decided to grant an application from the South Taieri Club for affiliation with the union and for permission to take part in the third grade competition. The application stated that the club had , 23 young members, and its activities would foster the game in the district and not affect neighbouring clubs. GROUNDS. The Town Clerk wrote advising that the following grounds had been. allotted to the union by the Reserves Committee of the City Council:— Oval, four grounds; Logan Park, three; Montecillo, two; Tonga Park, one; Bathgate Park, two; Ellis Park, one; Chingford, one; Littlebourne, one; Opoho, two; North Ground, one. The charge for the use of these areas would be £lO 10s per ground, plus 10s per ground to cover public risk insurance. Charges and conditions
relative to the use of the Caledonian Ground had not been finally decided upon. It was pointed out that only one ground had been marked out at Opoho, and it was decided to go into the matter of securing a second ground at Chingford. The Dunedin Ocean Beach Domain Board advised that a ground would be available for the union at Hancock Park.—Received. TRANSFERS. The following transfers were granted:—R. D. Smith, University to Pirates; M. Leathern, Kaikorai to Pirates; J. M. Pollok, Port Chalmers to Alhambra; R. W. Blair, Kaitangata to Training College; T. E. Wilson, Pirates to Training College; D. I. Harris, Pirates to Brighton; M. C. Bruhns, Taieri to Pirates; J. D. Paterson, Pirates to Southern.
