WELL IN RACE FOR PRODUCTION NO INTENTION TO MAKE LARGE NUMBERS (Rec. 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, " French atomic research was . already so advanced in 1940 before the "collapse that France needed under a year to possess the atomic bomb," said Professor Joliot Curie in an interview with Reuter's correspondent at Liusanne. "The United States was only six months, or at the most a year, ahead of the other nations in atomic bomb research." He added that France could obtain large quantities of uranium from her empire, but did. not intend to make large numbers of atomic bombß.
