PRESIDENT OF AUSTRIA
DR RENNER ELECTED (Bee. S a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 20. Dr Karl ltenner, Prime Miuister in the Austrian Provincial Government, was unanimously elected President of the Republic at a joint session of both Houses of Parliament, stated Vienna radio. The proceedings were broadcast oyer the Austrian radio—an event without precedent in parliamentary history in Central Europe. The names of the duputies being called to cast votes at the ballot box could be beard for half an hour.
