CLASHES IN PRISON CAMPS
FIGHTING AMONG CHINESE AND JAPANESE (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) TOKIO Oct. 17. American marines have been rushed to the coal-mine prison camps near Hakata (Kyushu) to quell fighting among Chinese labourers andl prisoners of war and Japanese police and civilians. Previously two Chinese had been killed and two seriously injured. Twenty Japanese police and civilians were.beaten up. It is reported that one-third of the prisoners in 11 Hakata camps died of exposure, starvation, and lack of medical attention during the war.
