MILK BOARD

ELECTION OF NEW BODY

The election of the seven members lof the Dunedin Metropolitan Milk Board was completed on Tuesday. A poll was necessary only in the case of one representative from the combined ! district of the boroughs of Port Chal- ' mers and West Harbour and part o'f the counties of Peninsula and Waikouaiti. Kach combined district was entitled to one vote for every 1,000 of population or part thereof. Upon that basis Port Chalmers exercised "three votes, West Harbour two votes/ and Waikouaiti County two votes, bat Peninsula County, _which was entitled to two votes, failed to exercise its prerogative. The candidates were: Mr Henry Williamson (nominated by the Port Chalmers Borough Council) and Mr Percy Mclvor (nominated by the West Harbour Borough Council). Eour votes were cast in favour of Mr Mclvor and three for Mr Williamson,' and the returning officer (Mr R. A. Johnston) declared Mr Mclvor duly elected.

The full constitution of the' Milk Board is now as follows:—Messrs L. J. T. Ireland, R. F. Barr, W. B. Taverner, and L. M. Wright (representing the constituent district of the city otf Dunedin), J. H. Hinton (constituent district of the Borough of St. Kilda), J. F. McCartney (combined districts of the Boroughs of Green Island and Mosgiel and part of Taieri County), and P. Mclvor (combined districts of the Boroughs of Port Chalmers, West Harbour, and part of the Counties of Peninsula and Waikouaiti).
