ANGLO-AMERICAN CONFERENCE (Rec 8 a.m.) WASHINGTON, August 17. President Truman announced that the United States was conferring with Britain regarding the establishment of a Jewish national state in Palestine. He said America * considered that as many Jews as possible should be admitted to Palestine. The problem would have to be worked out with the Arabs.
