DISFIGURED AIRMEN
" GUINEA PIG " CLUB F.ORMED TO MEET AT ANNUAL DINNER . , LONDON, June 26. Airmen whose faces have been badly disfigured from burns have formed their own "guinea pig" club, members of which will meet at an annual dinner at Queen Victoria Hospital," East Grindstead. .. The hospital staff is headed by the New Zealander, Sir Harold Gillies, who is acknowledged as Britain's most famous plastic surgeon, and the New Zealander, Dr A. H. Mclndoe, who is consultant in plastic surgery to the It.A.F. Hospital. An official said tho hospital received all British, Canadian, New Zealand, Australian, and Allied airmen who were badly burned, also civilian air raid casualties with severe facial injuries. Dr Mclndoe performed miracles iit giving disfigured people a new. nose, chin or eyelids. More than 1,000 patients had passed through his hands and those of his assistants.
