FLYING BOMB MENACE
DIVERSION OF ALLIED AIR POWER
WAR EFFORT NOT AFFECTED
LONDON, July 12. Assessing the effectiveness of robot bombs after four weeks of consistent attacks, the London correspondent of the ' New'York Times' says: "The freatest military effect has been the iversion of Allied air power to the bombardment of the launching sites, but. in spite of civilian deaths and tho evacuation of children, life in London goes on not too uncomfortably. Furthermore, the war effort continues unimpaired." The American Press tone of moral indignation about the enemy's use of robots is not very widely shared by military observers here, who see little moral difference between robots and area bombardment of cities by piloted aircraft. In fact, area bombardment is far more destructive and more lethal. The Germann are credited with keen ingenuity for introducing a new and potentially important weapon. _ At the same time, their mistake lies in using it too little and too late.
