—Ministerial.— The Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. B. Roberts),, accompanied by the Assistant Director-General of Agriculture (Mr 11. B. Teunent), and hia private secretary (Mr R. D. Steel), arrived in Dunedin by the express yesterday afternoon. In the evening the Minister held a conference with delegates from Otago and Southland primary production councils. The ministerial party left for . Wellington by the express this morning.

Air Passengers.—Passengers from the north yesterday afternoon were:—Mr W. J. Watt, Mr O. S. Harvey Mr E. McCorkindale (from Auckland), Mrs R. Mclnues, Mr R. W. Uren, Mr H. Longbottom, Mr C. Tomkins, Mr D. H. Blackie, Mrs E. J. Turma. Mr L. McMillan" (from Wellington).

Northbound passengers this morning were:—Miss K. Jessop, Mr and Mrs O. Keogh and infant, Mr P. L. Weenink. Col. Hardie Neil (for Christchurch), Miss S. R. Martin, Miss J. McKenzie, Mrs I. E. Broad and infant, (for Wellington), Miss J. JicLachlan, Bi- W. Gilmour (for Auckland).

Mr J. B. Robertson went north by the express this morning, en route to the North Island.

Mr O. 0. Mackley, who recently retired from the position of principal inspector for the Department of Agriculture in Otago and Southland, Mt for Feilding this morning. Dr L. C McNickle, inspector of hospitals for the Health Department, who has been on a tour of South Otago, returned to Wellington this morning. Mrs V. G. Cavanagh jun., of Kew, has received advice that her twin brother, Wing-commander A. Norman Jones, R.A.F., has been reported missing ou air operations. The Presbytery of Central Otago has sustained a' call from the Queeustown Presbyterian Church to the Rev. P. Anderson, formerly chaplain of John. McGlashan College. Mr J. W. Dove, who has been chairman of the Otago" Hospital Board for the last nine years and president ot the New Zealand Hospital Boards' AsI sociation for the last seven, will again I be a candidate for a seat ou the Otago i Hospital Board as the representative of the St. Kilda and _ Green Island boroughs and the Peninsula County Council. Mr J. G. McKay, first assistant and housemaster at Rutherford House, Nelson College, has retired • after y7£ years service on the staff of the college. With the exception of short periods on the staffs of the Southland Bovs' High School, where he was educated, and of the Winton District High School, all his teaching career has been spent at Nelson College. Mr and Mrs McKay intend to retire to Wellington. Mr McKay's father, who is aged 91, is still living in Invorcargill. Mr H. Tai Mitchell. C.M.G., of Itotorua, collapsed in his car and died of heart failure at 9 o'clock last night. He was 67 vcars old. Mr Mitchell was an officer bt the Native Department prominently associated during his litetime with movements for the welfare of the Native race. An air casualty reported to-dav is Filying-officer John Mihvard Mee, 1) F.C., missing on operations. His father is Mr J. Mee, of Lauder. The announcement is made iby Mr Bryan Todd, chairman of directors of Associated Motorists Petrol Company Ltd., of the appointment of Mr R. E. Turner as general manager of the company. For the past six years ho has been managing director of the Superior Oil Company of New Zealand, which has been carrying out exploration'and development activities in New Zealand.
