RAT ATTACKS BABY

BITTEN ON FACE AND HAND (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 16. Awakened by screams from their 10-months-old baby, Mr and Mrs 10. V. Edwards, of Oriental Parade, found the child bleeding from wounds on the hand and face. It had been savagely attacked by a rat. The fingers of the left hand had been bitten almost < to the bone, and there were lesser bites round the. left eye. The baby is being treated at the hospital, where a doctor stated that, the child was fortunate not to have lost the fingers of the left hand. The rat's teeth marks were clearly defined.
