PRIMARY PRODUCERS
FUSION OF ALL INTERESTS A NATIONAL FEDERATION SUGGESTED (P.A.) * WELLINGTON, July 16. Far-reaching proposals for the fusion of the primary producers' organisations of the Dominion into one national organisation were placed to-day before the annual meeting of the Farmers' Federation, which is composed of representatives of the various producing interests. After discussion, the proposals were referred to the incoming committee for consideration.
Tho president of the Farmers' Union, Mr W. W. Mulholland, said that certain principles had been- accepted, and if the proposal were adopted it would mean the disappearance of the two major organisations representing the producers. There would also be. provision within the constitution for linking up with oilier producers' organisations. The proposal might have a pvofou'id bearing on future policy,, but he felt pleased that it had cohie about. Mr James Begg, president of the Sheepowners' Federation, said the opinion of his organisation was unanimous that closer association was very desirable. "We see difficulties ahead," he said, " but we think that in good time and with patience and tolerance they can be overcome."
