REDUCING THE DELAYS
NEWS OF MISSING MEN DIRECT LINK WITH GENEVA (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. Advice has been received in Wellington that to reduce the delays in receiving advice of the whereabouts of soldiers previously reported missing tha Government has now made arrangements with the International Red Cross at Geneva for information to be sent by cablegram direct to New Zealand, as well as to Cairo, as soon as it becomes available. Hitherto adyice has come through the Base Records Office in Cairo immediately advice is received: from: Geneva. Next of kin in New; Zealand will be informed by telegram.It is stated that till the new system is well established-. it may still be possible for instances to occur of relatives receiving private advice before the official announcement is available, but that this is not expected if the arrangements are adhered to.
