FIRE OUTBREAK
THREE SHOPS AFFECTED STOCK OF ONE RUINED (P.A.) BLENHEIM, Sept. 30. Three small shops in .Market street' south were involved in an outbreak of fire last night. The major damage was suffered by tho premises of Mr W. G. Burton, fruiterer and confectioner, tha rear or the shop being gutted, while the entire stock was ruined by smoke and water. The adjoining shops on either side, occupied by Mr C. H. James (draper)' and Mr G. Bartlett (hairdresser), were affected to a minor extent, the principal damage being to Mr James’s stock,which was damaged by smoke. Mr, Bartlett’s premises escaped with slight damage to a storeroom, where a quantity of matches were ignited by th« heat. • The shops were included in a block of four owned by Mr Sidney Adams, ami were insured for £1.300. Mr Burton’s stock was insured for £3OO, and Mp James’s for £250.
