MEN'S HOCKEY
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION
At a meeting of the Management Committee of tbo Otago Men’s Hockey Association, hold at the Y.M.C.A. last night. Mr E. D. Brown occupied the chair. It was decided to hold the first representative games against Southland on Juno 28, senior, junior, and schoolboys’ teams participating. . ~ Tho association has been granted the use of three grounds at Tonga Park and one at the Oval. Tho new penalty corner has been approved by the New Zealand Hockey Association. It was stated that hookey in North Otago was experiencing difficulty in keeping going owing to war conditions. Two teams, however,°were still being fielded. On July 26 the Otago senior and junior teams are to travel to Timaru to play South Canterbury. , Owing to circumstances, noth the senior and junior selectors have had to resign their positions, and Messrs E. Ronnick and D. E. White have been appointed senior and junior selectors respectively. Mr Brown, who had been compelled to resign his position as president and selector, 0 was tendered the association’s thanks for his work on the association. Mr E. Rennick was elected chairman for the remainder of the season, and Mr A. Betting was selected to replace Mr Brown as delegate to the Otago Provincial Council of Sport. The primary schools opened the season last Wednesday with a tournament to classify teams. It was stated that this year there was a further increase in the number of teams BOYS’ MATCHES. ' ■ The following is the boys’ draw for tomorrow : A Grade (matches to start at 3.25 p.m.). •—Macandrew A v. Mornington B, Oval No. 1 (Mr Drew); Macandrew B v. Anderson A, Tonga No. 3 (Mr Smith); Macandrew C v. Arthur Street A, Tonga No. 2 (Mr Every); Mornington A v. Kensington, Oval No. 2 (Mr Jenkins). B Grade (matches to start at 2.40 p.m.). —Macandrew D v. Normal B, Oval No. 1 (Mr Drew); Anderson B v. Forbury O, Toirn-a No 1 (Mr Smith); Arthur Street B v. Forbury B, Tonga No. 2 (Mr Every) ; Normal A v. Forbury A, Oval No. 2 (Mr Harman).
