SOUTHLAND DATES ARRANGED TOWH-GGUNTRY FIXTURE Dates for tlic liomo-and-home games with SouUiland were arranged at last niglit’s meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union, which ‘also agreed to a Metropolitan-Country game being played at Dunouiu on July 12, dub games to bo played on the same date. Tito president (Mr, ira Grant) was in tbo chair. The Southland Kugby Football Union wrote suggesting July ltd as the date lor the matcu with Otago at Invercargill, and ashing the Otago Union to suggest a date for tna return match at Duneain for the Donald Stuart Shield. —It was decided to agree to July 26 for the match at Invercargill, and to suggest August 23 for Uu< return match at Dunedin.

It was mentioned that Canterbury would meet Otago at Dunedin on August 9, the return game being played at Christchurch on August 30. TOWN v. COUNTRY FIXTURE. Discussion look place concerning the desirability of a game being played between a metropolitan side and a country team, and it was decided that the game should bo played on July 12 at Dunedin, club games to be played on the same date. Messrs W. J. Pearson and A. E. Marslin were appointed, selectors of the country side, for which nominations of players will bo invited from the sub-unions. Mr Marslin, president of the Vincent Subunion, who was present at the meeting, said that the fiftieth anniversary' of the inception of the matches between Vincent . and Maniototo Sub-unions was being played at the end of the present month. NUMBERING OF PLAYERS. Mr D. M. Spedding raised the question of tho numbering of ]3iayei'S, and said that complaints were being made by tho public about players taking the held wearing the wrong numbers or without numbers. Teams in Canterbury were being fined 10s for taking the field wrongly numbered. Mr B. Collie asked whether there was a good supply of numbers available, and suggested that the position might be due tb carelessness on tho part of players when numbers were torn off. It was stated that there was a good stock of numbers, and delegates wore urged to impress upon their clubs the necessity for seeing that their players were correctly numbered every Saturday. GENERAL. It was decided that no further action should be taken in tho caso of a Taieri fourth grade player who was ordered off m tho match with Dunedin for alleged indiscriminate kicking, the player having already stood down for one Saturday. Tho manager of the Otago team (Mr I. Glcndining) reported on the visit to Oamaru for tho match with North Otago on the King's Birthday holiday. Tho game was a bright and open one, with plenty of action. Mr Glendining also expressed the appreciation of the players for the hospitality extended by the North Otago Union. Tho Police team was granted permission to meet a team from the Wingatui camp at the Caledonian Ground to-morrow. Tho Varsity A-Varsity B game was set down for June 18. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY.
