NO WAR PROFITEERS
COMPANIES IN CANADA TORONTO,. April 17. The ‘ Financial Post ’ said that an analysis of profits and taxes revealed that there are no war profiteers in Canada. A survey of 136 Canadian companies showed that during last year profits dropped 2 per cent, and taxes jumped 150 per cent. It is said that the only industrial group showing a rise in profits was the pulp paper industry, in which taxes have risen over 500 per cent. Other industries, although still making profits, have seen their returns drop by from 1 to 22 per cent.
