LAMB ANO SHEEP ALSO RECEDE AVERAGE YARDING MOST SECTIONS VARYING DEMAND APPARENT There was an average yarding of 21)5 head of fat cattle at to-day’s Burnside market. The number of prime were not in evidence, the bulk of the yarding being medium and light. Heifers were also down in numbers, hut cows were in good supply. The market for all classes of ox, except prime heavy, opened fair on last week’s rates, but on the whole, there was an easing tendency, and prices showed a decline of approximately 10s a head. Heifers sold firm, and cows could be quoted at 20s to 30s below last week.

A small entry of store cattle included three pens of good three-year-old steers, the balance being odd lots. Steers brought from £9 10s to £lO Ds; two-year-olds from £5 to £6 15s; heifers from £3 10s to £C, young cows from £3 15s to £5. There was a small entry of inferior sorts in the vealei 1 section, and these brought last week’s rates. A small entry of boner cows sold at late rates.

Tho bulk of the sheep yarding was confined to ewes of very good quality, while the yarding of wethers, as usual, was in short supply. The market for wethers opened firm, while ewes showed a depreciation of Is 6d to 2s. Tho lamb yarding was slightly larger than last week, and the quality generally was good. There were a few pons of medium and light sorts, but owing to the market being in excess of supplies prices were easier by approximately 3s to 4s a head. Following are the estimates for beef a hundred lb and the prices a lb for mutton, compared with last week’s rates;—■
