BRIDGE DRIVE, OTAGO WOMEN’S CLUB

The last of the functions arranged by members of the Otago Women’s Club in aid of the funds of the Array and Navy Queens was a bridge drive sponsored by the Bridge Circle and held on Wednesday evening in the club rooms, when some 70 tables joined in the play. Miss Holford presided and welcomed the players. Beside those playing in the club the following arranged tables in their own homes or gave the value of a table:—Mesdames Richard Hudson, I'l. •I. Smith, Cerald Fitzgerald, A. de Beer, 11. Dawson, C. Columb, A. G. Melville, .1 Duncan, ,1. F. Drake. It. W. S. Dotting, .1. S. Ross, ,1. M‘Gill, and 10. Leahy. The following sent donations:—Mosdamus 11. I). Kerr, W. .1. Morrell, A. A. Fairhairn, .1. Blues, lOlvidge, Torrance, Sloan, Brown, and Miss Little. Prize-winners for the evening were Mrs W. 11. Allen, Mrs 11. G, Williams, and Miss F. Campbell. The amount collected by the drive was £44 ss. including a donation of £lO from Mrs Lily Haggitt. At the conclusion of bridge Lady Ferguson thanked all those who had helped to make the evening so successful, and presented the trophies to the three prizewinners. The amount raised by the three functions held in the club amounted to over £240. which was divided equally between the Army and Navy Queens. Altogether for Red Cross and natriotic purposes the club has raised already this year close on £I.OOO.
