NO FURTHER TAXES THIS YEAR
BUT YEAR ENDS NEXT MONTH FINANCE MINISTER EXPLAINS STATEMENT [Pek United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 12. Further reference to his statement in Auckland that there would be no extra taxes this year was made by. the Minister of Finance (Mr Nash) to-day, in order that his remarks should be fullv understood. The Minister pointed out" that only about six weeks of the current financial year' remained. Mr Nash said he was asked in Auckland what was to be done to make up the deficit on the 4d per gallon petrol tax in the AVar Expenses Account as a result of the p'etrol rationing. “ My reply was that there will not be anything done during the present financial year, and I added that the determination of next year’s Budget had not yet been completed,” he said.
