OBITUARY
MRS A. R. FALCONER [From Ooe Correspondent] The death took place aL Balclutha on Thursday last of Mrs Alexander Eeid Falconer, of Tokoiti, Milton, after a somewhat lengthy illness. The deceased was a daughter of Mr and Mrs Alexander Smith, early residents of East Taieri, who came to New Zealand in the Mooitan in 1849. She was born at East Taieri 78 years ago and was educated at the school there. She married Mr Falconer in 1839, and the couple celebrated their golden wedding last year. After their marriage Mr and Mrs Falconer lived in Mosgiel till 1918. They then moved to Cavcrsbam and in 1927 wont into retirement at Tokoiti. Tile late Mrs Falconer was a keeit supporter of the Presbyterian Church and was a foundation member of the East Taieri Church choir. She is survived by her husband and seven members of a family of eight, namely, Lieutenant-colonel A. S. Falconer, D. 5.0., M.C. (Burnham), Messrs D. (Milton), J. R. (Wellington), and A. R. (Wellington), Mrs A. J. Milnes (Caversham), Mrs W. A. Neill (Wellington), and Miss Rachel Falconer (Milton. There are also 20 grandchildren. The interment took place at East Taieri on Saturday. Rev. S. T. Nicholls (Milton) officiating. MR THOJUAS GRANT Mr Thomas Grant, a well-known re sident of Dunedin and Central Otago, ■passed away early on Monday morning. Mr Grant was for many years employed by Messrs Speight and Co., of this city, and afterwards started business on In’s own account, being proprietor of the well-known firm of Grant and Maynard, cordial manufacturers, of Alexandra. For the last 20 years ho bad been in the employ of Messrs Kenipthorne, Prosser and Co., anil was past president of the Manufacturing Chemists’ Onion. He is survived by his wife, one daughter. Mrs Forest, and one son. Mr Cyril Grant, of this city.
