OPEN AIR CONCERTS

ST. KILO A MUNICIPAL BAND Entertainment will be provided tomorrow afternoon, at J, in the Botanic Gardens, when a concert similar to the one given so'me time ago in : connection with 4ZB’s appeal for tho radio earphone fund will be presented. In con■’junction with tho St. Kilda Municipal Blind, , which will sifpjily a speciallyseloctcd programme, including contest music, 4ZB radio "artists’will'bo heard. Vocal solos will be rendered by Messrs Peter Dawson, Denis Shcard, and Miss A. Greenall, while Mr Julian Lee, from tho Blind Institute, Auckland, will render piano solos and act as official accompanist during the afternoon, lu the evening the popular seaside concert will take place at 8 at tho St. Kilda Beach rotunda. A non stop variety concert will be staged. Tho band,* under the conductorship of Mr W. L. Francis, will again provide appropriate numbers. Tho assisting artists on this programme, will be the Georgians Strict Tempo Dance Band, and AilHni, of 4ZB, will give numbers. Hogg's sound system will be installed for both concerts. This is the last occasion on which the band will be heard in public before it departs next Friday for Wellington to take part in the Centennial band contest. At both concerts collectors will make a special appeal for funds to defray the contest expenses, and the public are asked to give generously and thus assist the city to be represented at this important event.
