ROWING

OTAGO ASSOCIATION The Otago Rowing Association, which met last night, decided to change the rule governing points for club premierships. The altered rule is now as follows :—“ Points shall be awarded for all races rowed under the rules of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association and under the jurisdiction of the Otago Rowing Association, not to include regattas at which status is not effected.” There was a full attendance of delegates at the meeting, and the president of the association (Mr T. F. Mackie) was chairman. The date for the annual meeting was fixed for September 21. To agree about the best way of allocating competition cups, a sub-commit-teo was instructed to report to the annual meeting. The visits of overseas crews to the Dominion during the centenary formed the subject of discussion following advice from the New Zealand Council that if the Australian Association were represented funds would not be available to assist financially a visit from an American crew. The meeting agreed to support the American crew’s visit provided it was prepared to pay its own expenses.
