DAMAGE TO NATIVE BUSH THE MINISTER UNCOMPROMISING [Pee United Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, November 29. “ I have declared war on the lot—wapiti, chamois, and thar,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Parry, replying to a deputation from tho Southland Acclimatisation Society today. A plea had been made by a member of the deputation for consideration for wapiti, because of their attraction for overseas visitors, particularly sportsmen. “ I am not prepared to support any particular movement to induce people to come here at the expense of something more beautiful than wapiti—our native flora,” tho MinLstor added. “If we fail to conserve that bush wo are committing a grave breach of trust. I have declared war on the lot, I’m sorry, but that is the position. They arc doing a lot of damage.
