NEW ‘MARCH OF TIME ’
Pictorial journalism, ns it is depicted in the ‘ March of Time ’ series, which have proved'so popular during the past two years, reaches a new standard in tho latest issue to reach the local screen. In this number, which was privately screened at the Octagon, there is one subject that, although it is now past history, will have a universal appeal, for it deals with Hitler’s dramatic coup when he marched into Austria, uniting the two countries under one Reich and crushing the last hopes of the Hapsburgs. The film also draws attention- to the fact that this incident was mentioned as one of Hitler’s prophecies in his ‘ Mein Karnpf,’ and associates with it the Fuhrer’s further statement that there was not room in Europe for two nations like Germany and Russia. The annexation of Austria, according to the ‘March of Time,’ turned the eyes of the American public more closely upon European affairs, and for that reason alone people in the United States, as well as those in the British Empire, will view with interest the glimpses that are shown of the Austria of the Hapsburgs, Dr Dolfuss, and Chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg. The second part of the ‘ March of Time ’ has as its subject the endeavours of the American authorities to deal in more humane fashion with the vast problem of the criminal in Ins relation to society.
