HEALTH LECTURES.

TO THE EDITOB. Sir, —For the past few weeks we have had in our city Mr and Mrs Price, two lecturers on health, who loudly told us they could give us radiant health, etc. A friend and I, along with a good many more, attended some of their lectures, but did not leam much except what we already knew —that our diet is wrong and that we eat food in the wrong way, etc. Hoping to learn, something fresh, we interviewed them privately, and procured their full diet for the sum of £2 2s, bub this we found was very incomplete and complicated. For instance, it is mainly composed of a fruit diet, which is , not procurable the hipest part of the year. Also, to carry out their diet is well beyond the means of a working man. Again, their information is practically the same as that of Dr Williams’s, Hay’s, or Chapman’s books on diet, that can be bought in Dunedin for a few shillings. But this is not my grievance. I have no objections to anyone making an easy living this way: possibly their ideas are all right, but to my mind impracticable. My grievance is that while lecturing they were continually running down our doctors and the B.M.A. The opinion they tried to force on us was that our doctors were absolutely no good, and that you could not possibly be cured by doctors. I owe my life to the skill and care of a family doctor in this city, and so do hundreds of others; and I do not thing it fair that anyone should come here for a few weeks and fun down our doctors without a rebuff from some of us who are alive to-day owing to their skill and care.—l am, etc., Raw Cabbage. I February 24.
