CRICKET AT HOME

BROADCASTING RIGHTS TO N.B.S. Cricket tests between Australia and England to be played at Home will not commence for some time yet, but nevertheless the National Broadcasting Service has made arrangements with the interested bodies in Australia, for the New Zealand broadcasting rights of ball-to-ball descriptions of the games. Listeners will recall that, on a similar occasion, some years ago, the Australian main stations utilised code cables and sound effects to provide such realistic descriptions of the games that the public were convinced that the commentator was on the stands at Lord’s. Apparently a similar method will be employed in connection with the forthcoming broadcasts, details of which are to be announced later.
