SCHOOLS TENNIS
PRIMARY PUPILS' TOURNAMENT THIS MORNING'S RESULTS FINALS NEXT SATURDAY Ono hundred and nine competitors, representing 18 schools, took part in the opening rounds of the Primary Schools Tennis Tournament hold at the Logan Park courts this morning. As the courts were not available in the aftrenoon the semi-finals and finals will not be played until next Saturday. Pupils competing were from all the Dunedin primary schools, while entries were also received from schools as far north as Waitati and from Concord and Green Island. The tournament was excellently controlled by a staff of officials, while the major share of the credit in connection with the organising work must be given to Mr J. C. Clemens, secretary of the Primary Schools Tennis Sub-committee, and Mr K. Booth, who materially assisted the formpr. ' Results:— BOYS’ DOUBLES. —First Round.— J. Cox and L. Trevathan (Concord) beat J. Watson and J. Meldrum (Forbury), 6-1. L. Tate and R. Edwards (Forbury) beat 6. Benham and L. Peat (Kensington), 6-0. E. Demouth and K. Lindsay (Dunedin North Intermediate) beat W. Stephenson and S. Campbell (Anderson’s Bay), 6-4. V. Palmer and F. Sharp (Dunedin North Intermediate) beat A. Heather and A, Smith (Waitati), 6-0. R. Hellyer and 11. Landreth (Northeast Harbour) beat R. Ingram and A. Young (Arthur Street), 6-3. N Eaton and J. M'Gregor (Tainui) beat D. Ness and G. Leech (Kaikorai), 6-1. .1. M'Crae and N. Sykes (Arthur Street) beat B. Williamson and A. Foster (Kaikorai), 6-0.
