TOTTEY'S INJURY AND REJECTION TEAM GUARANTEES HIS TRAVEL EXPENSES [Peh United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 9. One o.f the most excited passengers on the Aorangi from Sydney to-day was Fred. Tottey, a former New Zealander, who has come to join the Australian Rugby League team for England. Tottey was. selected for the Kangaroos as a three-quarter, sent his wife and child to, New Zealand, and then injured an ankle in an unimportant match so severely that the Board of Control had to drop him from the team. The members of the team guaranteed up to £ls a man out of the money due them on completion of the tour for Tottey to accompany the team as their guest. His ankle is still in plaster. “ I cannot play unless it becomes absolutely necessary on the tour and the Board of Control gives consent. _ I have been commissioned to write special reports for a leading Sydney newspaper, and I am looking forward to seeing the team give a good account of itself,” said Tottey, who was delighted to be making the trip.
