GIRLS’ EDUCATIONAL WEEK
The members of the Country Girls’ party, accompanied by Mrs M'Latchie (organiser), and Mrs Durward (district president' of the Division), and other ladies of the division, were the guests of the Waitaki Boys’ High i, School. The party was given a cordial welcome in the Hall ox Memories by the rector (Mr Frank Milner). Mrs Durward, on behalf of the visitors, expressed appreciation of the welcome extended them. The following programme was presented under the direction of Messrs Gibb (conductor) and Fastier (organist)-Organ selection, ‘ Londonderry Air ’ (traditional); sea chanty, ‘ Billy Bqy ’; song, ‘ The Sergeant Major * (Longstaffe); special choir. ‘ John’s Gone to Hilo * (chanty), and ‘ Mother Machree ’ (Olcott); song, ‘Rolling to Rio’ (Edward German); song, ‘ The King’s Highway (Coward); organ selection, ‘ Piece Heroique ' (Cesar Franck); hymn, ‘ O Worship the King.’ The rector then gave a short address outlining recent disturbing developments in international relations. In the evening the visitors were entertained at a dance held in the Gymnasium Hall, which had been spedally decorated for the occasion. At the last roll call telegrams of felidtations were received from the Dominion President of the Women s Division (Mrs F. J. Drake), and from the Otago Executive. Mrs F. Duthie congratulated Mrs M‘Latchie on her well-organised programme, and commented on the pleasant week she had spent with the girls. Thanks were expressed by acclamation to Mrs M'Latchie, who made a suitable reply, and thanked the members of the committee for their co-operation. After the demonstration at Messrs Ireland and Co’s mill, shoulder sprays were presented by Miss _ Isobcl M‘Gimpsey, on behalf of the girls, to Mesdames A. Durward, G. M Latchie, F. Duthie, H. W.
