FORGED £5 NOTES
SDGPEGT TO STAND TRIAL [Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 9. As the sequel to the circulation of a number of forged £5 Reserve Bank notes among shopkeepers m Auckland on Christmas Eve last, a man arrested at Wellington on July 22 appeared before Mr Wyvern Wilson in the Police Court charged with forging a £5 note and uttering several. , Tho accused man, Charles Alfred Remmers (49), a labourer, was not represented by counsel. After a number of witnesses had been called by the police Remmers pleaded not guilty to six charges, and was committed for trial in the Supreme Court on a charge of forging a £5 Reserve Bank note at Wellington in December. Remmers was remanded to appear at Wellington pa Thursday next.
