ORDERS FOR UP-TO-DATE VESSELS BRITISH AND DOMINION GOVERNMENTS ASSISTING Press Association —By Telegraph Copyright LONDON, August 5. (Received August 6, at 1 p.m.) The ‘ Dailv Telegraph ’ understands that orders are being placed early in September with British firms for twin 22,000-ton ships with a speed of 20 knots for the Pacific service. The total cost of approximately £3,000,000 will be covered by a loan, of which the British Government will subscribe half. The balance will be jointly contributed by Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. These liners will ho definitely superior in size and speed to the Matson vessels.
