RATIONAL DAIRY CONFERENCE

NEXT MEETING AT MEW PLYMOUTH [Pee United Press Association.] HAMILTON, June 24. The National Hairy Federation conference was continued to-day, when the greater part of the day’s business was occupied with addresses by Dr K. Marsden and Colonel W. H. Cunningham. It was decided to hold nest year’s conference at Now Plymouth. Several speakers considered that as the annual conference was recognised as the parliament of the dairy industry it should have a permanent venue for its annual conference. Mr J. G. Brechin (Pahiatua) considered Palmerston North should be the permanent venue for the conference, and criticised the 'lack of accommodation at Hamilton. The view that all milk supplied to factories should be paid for on its basic value for the purpose for which it was utilised was embodied in a femit. submitted from the Kairanga Co-operative Dairy, hut it did not rc-

ccive the support of the conference. Speaking against the remit, slr Brechin said that in his opinion the conference would be well advised to Heave this question severely alone. If the remit were passed he believed that it would lead to the closing down of about five cheese factories in his district through loss of suppliers. It would also resuscitate the old “ battle of breeds,” and that controversy, in his opinion, had already caused sufficient trouble.
