THEFT OF TYPEWRITERS

A sentence of two years’ reformative detention was passed, by Mr Wyvorn Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court on John Herbert Tonking, described ns a publisher, for the theft of two typewriters valued at £l2 10s. Evidence was given that Tonking had obtained l a loan of £4 on each machine. A pawnbroker gave evidence that Tonking told him ho was the editor of ‘ Jack Blunt.’ a weekly newspaper, and had no further use for the machines. Tim Magistrate said Tonking's record was a bad one. i
