SQUALLY AND VERY COiD' . The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, covering the southurn districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers. Tapanui,' Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Oropuki, Bluff, flalfmoon Bayi The centre of the depression referred to yesterday is now located east of the North Island, but pressure remains low; to the north-west. It is rising, however, over the Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand. Forecast,; Moderate to strong south-easterly winds to gales. Weather squally and very cold, with heavy showers, and in places snow. Seas becoming rough. , RAIN FOLLOWS FROST. After eight degrees of frost had been recorded in. Dunedin last evening, rain commenced fo fall early this morning, and by 9 a.m. .16in had been.registered. The fall dwindled to scattered light showers later, .while temperatures were milder than yesterday, though still at a low level.. The sky was heavily overcast at noon,. when further rain was promised during the afternoon; The respective, .maximum . and minimum thermometer readings at the Gardens at this time were. 41.2 deg and 40deg, while readings .taken .over a 24-hour period .yesterday, .were 42deg and 31.9 deg.
